Best Wii Tools Click hereFirst of course you will need to purchase a USB Thumb Drive. For most users a drive at least 8 gigabytes (or "gigs") in size should suffice for all your needs. Of course if you"re into amateur photography then you may want to consider something a bit larger. For the most part brand name is not a concern, though I should say the San Disk brand is considered one of the better.
Once you have the thumb drive go ahead and plug it into your computer. Provided you have Windows XP or later it should be automatically installed and setup after a few moments. To confirm go to "My Computer" and make sure you see a new entry in the "Removable Storage Devices" section. As long as you see the new drive listed here you can continue on to the next part.
Now for the fun part, browse to the documents you want to backup. To send them over to the new drive simply Right Click on the file and point your mouse at "Send To" you should see a menu pop out. In the menu you will see the drive listed, simply left click on it. Windows will move your data over for you! Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy!
If you have a large amount of files you want moved save yourself some time. Right click on the folder and do just like above; Point at "Send To" and then left click on your new drive. This will move the folder and all documents contained within it to the drive.

If this all seems overly complicated do not worry, after two or three times it will become second nature. This of course works well if you only want to save a few documents, if you want to keep an up to date backup of your ENTIRE HARD DRIVE you will want to look into a program like Carbonite or Mozy. For a very small yearly fee they install a program on your machine. Whenever your machine is idle it will backup your data on their servers. If your computer should crash for any reason simply run the restore disk, and reinstall the Carbonite software. After that its just a couple mouse clicks and your back up and running.
