Dante's Inferno Review - Dante's Inferno Free Download
Download Dante"s Inferno PSP/PSP Go Game For Free!Dante"s Inferno PSP"s strongest, and sometimes weakest, point is its gameplay. As I understand it, the game is pretty much as carbon copy of its console counterparts, albeit with some extras, attacks and a mini game taken out so it would fit on a UMD. If you haven"t played the console version, you won"t miss them. If you have, you"ll probably be quite annoyed with their absence. Being that I hadn"t played the game on any system but the PSP, the missing content made little difference in my enjoyment. Extras or no, Dante"s Inferno plays almost identically to the PSP God of War spin-off Chains of Olympus, not to mention all the other games I mentioned earlier. You"ve got your light and heavy attacks, all of which can be upgraded, magic and special moves. You"ve got the block/dodge roll moves, you"ve got the wall climbing, QTE events, mild puzzle segments, huge bossesò€¦ so, yeah. Just like God of War. The only discernable difference is that Dante can use a grab move to either punish or absolve his victims. Your choice makes a difference in the kind of upgrades you earn and even what the enemy drops when it dies. If EA was trying to do something new with this game, they failed. If they took a great gameplay system and made their own title from it, wellò€¦ don"t fix what ain"t broke, right?
Another important aspect of the gameplay is the difficulty. When you start, you are given choices on the easy or normal modes (with clever names, though they escape me now), just like most other games. And like I do with most other games, I went with the normal option; I like a challenge, but not an impossible one. It was to my surprise that Dante"s Inferno, on normal, does actually provide a challenge. For as easy as it was for me to breeze through God of War: Chains of Olympus (I maybe died once or twice), Dante"s journey was much more difficult, though not unpleasantly so. Minor enemies actually had a chance at bringing me down, and every single boss required more than one or two tries to vanquish. Action game vets will only be momentarily troubled by the enemies, but it was refreshing to die a few times in a climate of too-easy games.

Say what you will about the plagiarism of God of War"s gameplay; there is a reason that series is so popular. Dante"s Inferno doesn"t manage to set itself apart from Sony"s flagship series in terms of gameplay, but there is no denying that taking a classic work and making it into a game is ambitious and thought provoking. Despite its scaled-back nature and too-late release on the PSP, Dante"s Inferno is a pretty good action title with some over the top visuals and solid gameplay, even if it was late making it to the party. As I said earlier, if you like this kind of game, you"ll probably have a lot of fun with this one. Just don"t expect the game to make the same kind of impact the original written work did. And keep crossing your fingers for more literature-based games. Super Karamazov Brothers anyone?
