Interpreting Other Art Forms for Creative Inspiration

Here at Celio Designs, I find music and books to be highly inspirational for creating mixed media journals.  There are thousands of songs that conjure up feelings and memories of first love, lost love, new love, joy, sadness, anger, empowerment, and the list goes on.  Think of a meaningful song.  Now if you wanted to convey the message of that song with images, how would you do that?  Use the images that come to mind to transform that blank canvas into a work of art.

Books are another great source of inspiration.  For example, when I think of the novel Wuthering Heights, I imagine dark, stormy skies, and wild, terrain.  I used this imagery as well as one particular quote from the book to create a journal.  The quote "I have dreamed in my life, dreams that have stayed with me ever after, and changed my ideas; they have gone through and through me, like wine through water, and altered the color of my mind."   Once again, you can interpret the works of another to create something completely your own!
